Found out today that I won 2 awards in the ELLE Decoration British Design Awards 2010! I won 'Best British Design' for my Carpetry Sideboard as voted for by the public and also 'Best New Interior' for Coquine bar, as selected by the magazine. Theme Magazine’s panel of judges have selected Lee Broom as one of only three designers for the ‘One to Watch’ category for his bar design work, and also picked Lee’s design for 10 Feet Tall in Cardiff as one of five bars to make the shortlist for ‘Contemporary Bar Design of the Year’ in the magazine’s annual bar and restaurant awards. The winners will be announced on 29th September.

It has just been announced that Lee Broom's latest bar design The lost Angel has been nominated for the for ‘Best New Bar’ by Time Out London’s Eating & Drinking Awards 2009. In 2006 Lost Society won this prestigious award, so we are hoping for the same outcome for The Lost Angel this year. This special 25 year anniversary edition looks at the changing face of the drinks industry and its people who have shaped it over the years. The 25 list includes other designers, bar operators and promotors.

This month Lee Broom has been voted by the public as the 13th most influential person in the bar industry in Theme Magazines top 100. The list honors the bar industry's leading figures over the past 12 months. Other names include Sir Terence Conran, Nick House of Mahiki and Eric Yu of Punk. The Electric Louis chair and the new Bright on Bistro chair have been exclusively photographed for Wallpaper* magazine for their Far East edition. The two page spread forms part of a story photographing the best chairs in the world available now. The chair has also just been photographed for the October edition of World of Interiors.

Makilee have been featured twice in januarys theme magazine which is a design special. creative director lee broom was asked to be part of a design discussion amongst other creative forces in the bar design industry. the design forum has been published and gives an interesting insight into the impact of bar design in the UK. Makilee also feature in underdogs monthly column on how to open your own bar. the article names three of the best interior design practices in the UK including Makilee design. the article specifically discusses the success of our one day design consultancy sessions which you can read more about by clicking one day in the menu bar.
